2017 Myron Cope/Foge Fazio Memorial Golf Invitational for Autism

36th Annual Charity Golf Event to Honor Myron Cope and Foge Fazio’s Autism Legacies

This year’s Myron Cope-Foge Fazio Memorial Golf Invitational for Autism fundraiser at Montour Heights Country Club on June 12th will again honor the two broadcast and coaching legends “and what their remarkable lives have meant to those children and families in our region struggling with autism”, event host Bill Hillgrove announced. “Myron and Foge are gone from us, but this event remains their living legacy” he said.

Now in its 37th year, it is the longest standing charity golf event in the state.  Since 1981, over $1.6 million has been raised to support educational, information and referral services of the Autism Society of Pittsburgh.  Last year’s event alone raised over $56,000.  “And every cent raised stays right here in our region,” said Gordon Oliver, Moon Township businessman who chairs the event committee.

“Well-known area sports figures play with each sponsor foursome,” he said.  “And this year the response has been better than ever.”

Oliver stated that over the years, just about every local sports figure, writer, broadcaster and team coach has attended the event, from Chuck Noll to Bill Cowher plus many Steelers and Pirates in between, including Lynn Swann, Franco Harris, Dan Marino, L. C. Greenwood, Mel Blount, Jack Ham, Tunch Ilkin, Jerome Bettis, Andy Russell, Chuck Tanner, Eddie Johnson, Mike Wagner and Rocky Bleier.
